BACKGROUND TO THE EVENTThe event has come into being , as a result of realizing a missing link between employers and would be employees. The labour market is volatile. Most graduates do not know what is expected of them by their prospective employers, yet different Human Resource specialists who could share a lot of information with prospective employees only do so infrequently moreover at a micro scale level. Additionally, the high recruitment costs incurred by businesses arose the concern. Our aim is to progressively enhance employment strategies in a way that is commensurate with the pace of Uganda's economic and social developments and to strike a reasonable balance between the interests of employers and employees. It is against this background that Temping Uganda Limited has arranged a 3-day assembly to bring together these parties to explore these very barriers that are affecting our businesses and the lives of employees in our country. More so the event aims at identifying and recognizing the role of each stakeholder dealing with labour market issues. ObjectivesThe main objective of the event is to bring the employer and the would be employees together with an emphasis on the employee to understand the requirements of the employers. Specifically the event has the following objectives To facilitate a clear understanding of the requirements in the labour market. To provide career guidance to the graduates. To bring the employers into direct contact with the graduate in a more cost effective way. To provide guidance to the academic institutions on the current specific requirements in the labour market. To assist participants who are considering either becoming self employed or starting a business. To promote understanding of labor laws and encouraging good labor management practices.
